Maximus "Puppy" Gines: My Loyal Protector and Best Friend

Paris

2014-2025

Beloved Companion of Michael Gines

On August 24, 2025, I said goodbye toMaximus “Puppy” Gines, my beloved Jack Russell–Chihuahua mix, who was born on June 25, 2014. For eleven precious years, Max was not just my dog, he was my best friend, my constant companion, and the light that brightened even my hardest days.

Max had a joy for life that was infectious. Every time it was time to go outside, he would break into his famous “potty dance,” tail wagging, paws hopping, eyes sparkling. His favorite spot was the left rear top couch cushion, where he’d curl up, wrapped in a blanket, perfectly content as long as he was close to his dad.

He loved his stuffed alligator, small tennis balls, and his favorite treats: Sizzlers bacon strips, beef bones, and banana-and-yogurt biscuits. Even when those treats changed as he got older, his excitement for life never did. He waited faithfully by the door every day, tail wagging when I came home from work or even from just taking out the trash. His loyalty was unmatched, and his love, unconditional.

Our lunchtime walks were our ritual, quiet, grounding moments that became my meditation. Even now, I still take those walks. It brings peace to my soul and a sense that Max walks beside me still. He slowed down in his later years, especially when my ankles or knees hurt, adjusting his pace to match mine. That was Max, always aware, always protecting, always loving.

He came into my life during a time of loneliness, filling that space with laughter, companionship, and comfort. Watching TV together on weekends became our special ritual, one I still find myself missing. Max taught me the meaning of love, compassion, and loyalty. Through him, I learned how to care more deeply not only for animals, but for everyone around me.

The day he passed, Max didn’t want to go to the vet... Something he’d never resisted before. I believe he knew. Somehow, he was telling me it was time, that everything would be okay. I still feel his presence when life feels heavy, reminding me to find joy in small moments, to stay loyal, and to keep loving as he did.

Michaels Letter to Max:
“Max, thank you for being my best friend, teacher, companion, and protector. You were my light in the darkest tunnels. I miss our walks, our weekends, and your little dance that always made me smile. I hope you’re enjoying time with your cousins. Paris, Stella, and your little buddy Rocco. I love and miss you, my sweet boy.”

Maximus “Puppy” Gines will always be remembered as abest friend, loyal protector, and the smartest, happiest soul. His love continues to ripple through the lives of those he touched.

Tyler's Channeled Message From Max:

"My life was nothing short of incredible. I know I came into my dad's life when he needed me the most. There was a special bond that we created from the moment we met. My souls journey was to help heal the heart of my dad. To allow the light to come in, and allow the spaciousness to move through his life challenges. I know my contract in life was to bring a sense of peace to someone who was lonely. It is now time for dad to open his heart and begin the journey. I am still walking side by side with you, and I will never leave you. Still talk to me, even in the depths of sorrow and sadness. I am still here with you. I love you, and thank you for giving me life."

“Some bonds are written not in time, but in trust, the kind of love that keeps walking beside us, long after pawprints fade.”
